A live recording of legendary Paskistani Qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of all time. Qawwali is a form of Sufi music which is about 600-700 years old. As musical instruments the pump organ, the Tabla and Dholak drum and hand-clapping are used. In addition to that is homophonic singing. Especially remerkable is that, although classical Sufi literature is used as basis for the lyrics, the singing of these long lasting pieces (this one is 30 minutes long) is mostly improvised.
