Omara "Bombino" Moctar is a Tuareg musician from Niger. His music adresses political concerns of the Tuareg people. He was forced to flee during Tuareg rebellions and lost friends, which influenced him to condemn guns and use his guitar as a symbol of freedom. To celebrate the end of the conflict, Bombino was able to return to his home city Agadez in Niger in 2010 and hold a large concert at the Grand Mosque.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3905253884880054628.post-52291953884439629812014-02-01T05:01:00.001-08:002014-02-01T05:01:57.861-08:00Nils Frahm - Toilet Brushes - More (Live in London)
A beautiful piece of Chinese bamboo flute music performed by musician Chen Yue. The Xiao is an ancient Chinese vertikal end blown flute which comes in different varieties but is generally made of bamboo. The popular Japanese flute Shakuhachi is actually descendend from an earlier form of the Chinese Xiao, which was brought to Japan approximately 500 years ago. Originally this flute was used by Buddhist monks as an instrument for meditation. A live recording of legendary Paskistani Qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is considered as one of the greatest singers of all time. Qawwali is a form of Sufi music which is about 600-700 years old. As musical instruments the pump organ, the Tabla and Dholak drum and hand-clapping are used. In addition to that is homophonic singing. Especially remerkable is that, although classical Sufi literature is used as basis for the lyrics, the singing of these long lasting pieces (this one is 30 minutes long) is mostly improvised.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3905253884880054628.post-4317228936882973682013-05-29T13:14:00.001-07:002013-06-02T13:14:27.761-07:00

From the Compilation ''Saigon: Rock And Soul - Vietnamese Classic Tracks 1968-1974''.
The name of the song is ''Hờn Anh Giận Em'' by back then popular musicians Hùng Cường & Mai Lệ Huyền. This is an amazing track of the mostly forgotten era of electrified Vietnamese music of the 1960's and 70's. This musical style developed through the various western influences on Vietnam at the time, and even before. It was one of the biggest musical scenes of this style in South East Asia.
